- Yes, the accents can be annoying, but no biggie. Not everyone talks like a hick. Texans put up w/ our NJ/NY accents.

Yes, there you go, thank you for adding that qualifier! Although, I happen to like the NY/NJ accent, at least over the ones from Michigan/Wisconsin or up in that area. I admit I'm probably biased against them due to one of the first waves coming here from there back in the 80's. Some of them made fun of Texas and the accent. There were so many of them moving here that you'd see bumper stickers that said, "Last one out of Michigan, turn out the light." I was not amused when they interviewed a couple of jokers on local tv news and they made fun of us saying "y'all". On OUR local news, in OUR state, to OUR faces!! What a rude bunch of yankees.

Default From NY to Ft Worth

Well, when moving to Texas -- keep in mind that not only the weather is challenging at times . . . there are also a lot of mosquitoes, biting flies and we have to put out poison for fire ants. Those are probably the most annoying thing about living in Texas for me, personally. You can deal with the heat but then you have to put on spray just to hang outside or else get attacked by the bugs!

The wind is crazy in TX (at least FW) compared to NJ/NY. I haven't spent much time in Chicago, but I think FW is the real Windy City.

Yes, you're right. A local weatherman said awhile back that we are actually windier than Chicago.
