I agree. Trophy Club is very well worth checking out.

So when you refer to school districts do each of these areas have their own high school? Any guess on size of classes (like total juniors in the school)?

Southlake
Flower Mound
Keller
Trophy Club

Looks like we will be making the move so trying to gather as much info as possible. Thanks again for your help.

As far as I know, Southlake is part of Carroll ISD with one junior high and one senior high. The other three are part of ISDs that have more than one high school in their district; 2-3. No guess on class sizes except Southlake's is smaller than the others. Good luck!

Carroll ISD has multiple middle schools for 7th-8th, one school for 9th-10th (Carroll High School), and one school for 11th-12th (Carroll Senior High School).

Anyone have some input on Argyle? Both the school district and the community?

Argyle has some very nice homes and school district is much smaller compared to other public schools districts in the area. Don't know how they rank academically, but probably above average. Believe you would need to go east towards Highland Village or north to Denton for shopping and restaurants though I did notice they have a nice new CVS drugstore. It appears to be a growing area with a couple of new home communities west of hwy 377, so more retail will probably follow especially along I-35.

I have a couple random questions that have been floating around in my head.

Do many people have screen porches in TX? Do you see that as something that would be nice, or not really needed?

Are there some major growth problems in this N/NW area of Fort Worth? It seems like there is new construction everywhere up there!

I've only been concentrating on the N/NW area of Forth Worth, and thanks to all your help, am starting to get a slight grasp on the area. How does this area hold up to other nice areas in the entire metro?

I know I talked about snakes earlier, but now I have another creepy crawly question. How much do I need to worry about nasty spiders down there? I don't like spiders, but am ok with them, but the thought of spiders that can actually hurt you, freaks me out a bit. Is it something you actively try to protect against or just a passing thought, and something you might see here and there?

You don't see a ton of screen porches here and I would attribute that to the fact that most people see the need for air movement ahead of keeping out the bugs. You get some air movement on screen porches, but not as much as an open porch. The trend around here seems to be pergolas or patios with fans and outdoor kitchens.

Fort Worth has been sprawling toward the N/NW for the better part of the last two decades. The realization of the Walsh Ranch project is going to push more development to the west and the Chisolm Trail toll road that opened two years ago is already starting to push development to the south and southwest.

I would call the growth to the N/NW area typical suburban development. Some parts are better than others. The area between Lake Worth/Eagle Mountain Lake and I-35W is a little more rural than the area to the east of 35.

You can keep spiders away with regular professional pest control or even something "over-the-counter" like Home Defense. I may see a half a dozen spiders a year around the house, if even that. Even then, most are harmless. Like venomous snakes, dangerous spiders are more rare in populated areas.

I highly recommend a quarterly pest control service and treating your yard for fire ants. Fire ants and mosquitoes are a real problem around here more so than spiders. West Nile virus is in the mosquitoes around here.
