Sundance square isn't impressive compared to what? Denver was a rather dirty city last time I visited. And there's absolutely nothing in Salt Lake City that compares.

You greatly over hype Utah. Again outside of the mountains it's nothing special. My mom was born and raised in SLC and currently lives in South Jordan. Yes, SLC has public transit but DFW is also 7 times larger and 3 times larger than Denver.

To each their own, but Fort Worth is a great city that is only going to get better as it develops.
Your mom has good taste...l'm from South Jordan...lol

To me Sundance Square is the equivalent of Trolley Square in Salt Lake. It"s not all that impressive.

Salt Lake can't be too horrible they hosted the winter olympics...You can drive 20 minutes in Salt Lake, be in the mountains and see a moose on a trail.

I think my point is most major cities NYC, Chicago have real public transportation. DFW never really planned for growth and now it's here. Traffic is only going to get worse. In 10 years the roads are going to be really bad if people keep moving here.

Light rail in Utah runs from Ogden to Orem which is nearly 100 miles. It's not just in Salt Lake but the entire northern section of the state.

The OP indicated outdoor activities were important to their family. I love outdoor activities too. DFW does not compare to those states in terms of natural beauty or availability of public lands that are easily accessible from the city.

Personally, I think Texas has such high obesity rates because it is too hot here and eating and shopping are primary leisure activities for many.

Cheap housing and jobs usually win out over natural beauty.

Wow. Those are 2 very very different places. You can't even compare. I'm from Colorado and I have yet to see anything remotely like it in Texas. I'm having a huge struggle leaving CO b/c Texas will be SO different. Like I can't believe I'm moving!
In CO you will be paying for location. People move to CO because they want to move here not because they "have to". Demand is much higher than supply when it comes to housing. 'Everyone' is moving here and willing to pay for it.

I think the OP has (wisely) moved on to other cities. Denver's too expensive for them, and given how much they value the outdoors a move to a non-outdoorsy locale like DFW would be a setup for failure.

If it'd work out job-wise I'd definitely consider both Boulder and Denver for raising our family. Then again, only visited both of those places for like half a day. But scenery is great, and cities have good vibes. Denver downtown was a little European to me, which I like.

People like to compare Boulder (I grew up there) to Austin. I've never been to Austin so I dont know how accurate that is. In CO we call it The people's republic of Boulder because it's SO different from the rest of CO.
