We recently moved to Arlington from new Jersey. I work in Arlington & currently renting a place here. We are planning to buy a house(<400k) with good school district & close to work (within 30 mints commute).
We looked some houses in grapevine, coppell, & north Irving. Any suggestions about Mansfield or Grand Prairie area?

Thanks,Viji

Avoid Grand Prairie as a whole. Mansfield is a rather large district now but still nice from what I understand.

Grand Prairie is a bit iffy, but your money would go far. Mansfield is better and once again your money will go a little further. Can't help you with Coppell. North Irving, depends on how far north your willing to go. Typically the closer to Las Colinas the better. Grapevine is a little more pricey, but i normally hear good things about the area.
Why not just stay in Arlington?
Which section of Arlington are you working in? Just getting from north Arlington to south Arlington is a pain.
With your budget I would probably choice between SW Arlington, N Or W Mansfield, S Grand Prairie and Grapevine.

Arlington in the Martin HS attendance zone
Mansfield in the Mansfield HS attenance zone
If you work in N. Arlington also check out zip code 76039

The Mira Lagos neighborhood of Grand Prairie might be worth giving a look.
