I could see this happening eventually. Not sure what airline would set up shop at Meachem though, it would probably initially only be a few flights to key business centers (Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and maybe Austin, San Antonio, San Francisco and DC).

I get the entire strengthen DFW vs. provide more competition argument and while I would have agreed with the former in the 1970s, the Metroplex is so large now that there could definitely be room in the market for another airport to support some niche flights. It would be cool if an airline like Alaska could jump in and serve maybe 6-8 cities from Meachem as a mini-hub. Fort Worth residents would certainly use it.

The question is, does the outlay of infrastructure funding required to support commercial flights there justify the benefit of the flights, or would that outlay be better spent at DFW, adding a Terminal F and continuing airfield improvements there?

This is a Great idea if they don't allow DFW to force a "Wright Amendment" type of deal. And with the new train line going to DFW it would give Ft.Worthians the same options as Dallasites.
