Say it ain’t so.

Just five miles away from downtown Fort Worth, in the middle of the city's exploding north side, sits Meacham International Airport. It's a place that for some is flying high with opportunity.

"Very tremendous potential," said District 2 City Councilman Carlos Flores.

Flores, who represents the area in which Meacham sits, confirms the city is having preliminary ongoing talks with "interested parties" about bringing commercial passenger
flights back to Meacham.

In the Star Telegram's article, the mayor gave a pretty tepid response and invoked "but we just gave American a lot of money." Good luck. The council is going to get an earful from American Airlines on this one.

In the past couple of years I have had AA cancel 75% of my international flights after numerous delays. Their monopoly at DFW allows them to be grossly incompetent. I'd love to see them have to try again.

Agreed. I understand American Airlines may be upset but it’s Mayor Betsy Price job to lookout for the best interest of the city. That’s what strong mayors do. Fort Worth needs to make itself more attractive to the business community and having a commercial airlines close to the core would help with that effort.

I can only imagine how much noise this would generate. We already have the "Red Barrons" buzzing our neighborhoods all day and into the evening, flying very low and seemingly trying to be annoying.

As I've gotten older, I thought Alliance would be better off with commercial flights since it has a hell of a lot more room to expand than Meacham.

I don't get this at all...

Are they hoping Meacham will be the Fort Worth Love Field?

Not uncommon to have an airport way out in the suburbs.

Just look at DFW...
