If you could choose to live in either city, where would you choose?
We have 2 elementary age kids and my husband will be working in downtown Ft. Worth. Schools are very important to us and we are looking for a 4 bed/2 bath house with possibly a pool or a neighborhood that has a pool. We see that there are a lot more houses in our price range (max of 400K) in Mansfield but we are having a hard time deciding. We live in North Carolina currently so can't drive around at the moment. Thanks!

The biggest factor I would mention on both of those cities is that your commute to and from downtown is going to be a bear. Both areas have experienced tremendous growth in the past 20 years and completed and planned freeway expansion doesn't have a prayer at keeping up. I might give a slight edge to Keller since you already have the option of using the express toll lanes. You're not likely to get any better home value than either of those cities by moving closer to downtown. I would call schools a toss up because what you get is going to vary by neighborhood. I don't have any knowledge of specific schools. I hear plenty of good things about both districts.

Keller seems more upscale and rich kids. Mansfield seems more country and laid back. I don’t live in any of them, but in between them. If I had a choice I would pick Keller. I’ve heard really good things about their school system. Plus I feel like it’s closer to downtown Fort Worth. Seems like a lot of people have moved to Mansfield over the years and the traffic is not matching up with their roads over there. Highway 20 by the mall in Arlington is always congested. Depends on what feel you want. Keller makes you feel like more in the know, more community feel. Mansfield seems more suburban and quiet. This is just my opinion.

Keller is close proximity to DFW airport. Which can be great if you travel alot, or bad if air traffic noise bugs you. Both school districts are good. Your budget will go alot further in Mansfield.

I35 south traffic into downtown Fort Worth is absolutely horrible at the moment with all the construction. You will most likely have to use Highway 377 which has alot of lights. It may get better when they are done in 2021.

I would also suggest looking into Burleson, Joshua, or Aledo.

If you choose Mansfield be sure the schools zone to the original Mansfield High School because it, and its feeder elementaries and middle schools, outperform the other schools in the district.

Be sure to compare property taxes between the 2 cities.

It’s about 40-50 mins to/from Mansfield and DT FTW during rush hour using 287. Keller may be geographically closer but traffic that way is awful and the tollway is expensive according to coworkers who take it everyday.

Mansfield schools in Mansfield proper are good. The ones zoned for Arlington and Grand Prairie aren’t rated as high.

40-50 Minutes from Mansfield to DT FTW is a stretch. I leave my house at 6:45 to 7:00 in the morning and wind up at the 820/287 split about 10 minutes later which includes the daily back-up where I-20 splits off into 820 or I-20S. Other then the crappy traffic. I've Heard mostly good things about Keller and that general region. The central Mansfield area is nice and some of the newer communities will be a good choice. Most of the schools in the Mansfield High / Lake Ridge area rank well. You might want to look at Benbrook or Burleson.

It’s a stretch at 6:45 which is NOT during the height of rush hour. I leave at 8:45 and it takes me 40-50 mins.
