What’s the deal with Panther Island? Is there going to be any houses or townhomes built? I saw there is going to be house boats, which seems pretty awesome. Just curious what this community will really be like. I don’t want to live there if it’s only a hipster paradise.

Downtown is already a hipster paradise.

... who's downtown are you talking about?

If anyone wants to know what Panther Island is going to be, there's an entire site on it.

But it is going through an Audit right now due to government funds being halted. So the Houseboat District may not be part of it afterwards.

I have strong doubts it ever gets to what the original plan was. I've heard they've already had to jump through major hoops just over the bridges.

Bridge design had to change a few years ago. They're projected to be done by 2021.

This is the funniest and most inaccurate thing I've read today. Thanks for the laugh!

I saw heading about Granger and her son having a "falling out" over this
Is there hanky-panky likely the audit will uncover?

“Falling out” is an overstatement. She sent an email saying that looking into taking up TXDOT’s offer to take over the bridge project was worthwhile. He replied saying that he disagreed and stuck with the original plan.

As a 63 year old retiree, I go downtown and see store catering to hipsters, programs offered by Downtown FTW/Sundance is geared to families with kids. Of course the West 7th area is even more so, for the college crowd. And Magnolia for hipsters and families and Clearfork for the upper class older, but not yet retired folks.

Nothing down in either place, save the Bass Hall shows, for folks my age.

But that is ok. I used to live downtown and enjoyed it when I was younger. It is someone else's place now.

Way it goes.
