There's a saying: "What's good for DFW is good for Fort Worth"... heard that a lot during the Amazon bids. But in reality, Dallas gets the majority of benefits in these so-called partnerships while Ft. Worth is left with little, if anything. We even had to sacrifice our international airport to build DFW while Dallas got to keep there's. The city even had to go behind everyone's back just to get ESPN to film here... and it worked out.

So yeah, there is some animosity, but it isn't undeserved.
I've lived in Irving since 1965. I LOVE Fort Worth. I go there every Saturday to visit a friend.

I agree with you to a point. Eventually Fort Worth needs to quite blaming Dallas and do more to help itself. The early bird gets the worm. And Dallas definitely is the early bird in this pairing to my eyes.

^^^ This cliche saying fits for some lazy mama's boy barely attempting to find a job.

Major cities working to gain important things like government funding, infrastructure, civic projects, major events, etc. is a bit more complicated than "the early bird gets the worm", especially when they're all doing these things at the same exact time . . .

Once those monied institutional investors catch on to Fort Worth, hopefully the city's full potential can then be realized. I am personally hoping for greater investment closer to the city center, rather than in the suburban reaches of the city limits as we have seen mainly up to this point.

Tarrant County the county that Fort Worth is in has gotten very aggressive with raising property values to make more on property tax. Started about 4 years ago. Texas I think has the second highest property tax rate in the nation. So when Tarrant County raises an (unrealized) value of your property it is a large tax.

I admire Fort Worth. And love Fort Worth. But I get tired of listening to a few posters whining about mean old Dallas.

LOL "Screwed over" dude get over it, Fort Worth has had massive benefits from DFW. also, don't forget that until recently Love had a ton of restrictions on it so it isn't like Dallas had 2 fully functional airports.

It made way more sense to keep Love going vs the Greater Southwest International. More than half their daily flights were to Dallas. DFW totally hamstrung Love anyway.

Also, no way in hell Amazon would want to go to Fort Worth, I mean they didn't even want the airport spot we offered.

Yes. "Screwed over." Part of that killed a lot of chances for business on this side of The Metroplex.

And your belief that Fort worth had NO chance at Amazon is exactly what I'm talking about.

Fort Worth would be another Amarillo if it weren't for Dallas. Or perhaps Abilene, or even Tyler, once the growth from WWII died off and oil peaked in the 1980s.

Fort Worth actually did experience a population decline between 1970 and 1980 and didn't grow in a meaningful way in the 1990s.

I can't envision a scenario in which Fort Worth would be its current size without Dallas.
