Hello everyone. I cd use some input please. After 20 years of living in Arlington as a central hub 4 my job, I am now disabled/retired and want to come home to Ft Worth. But apartment rents are such a SHOCKER! Anyway, previously (20+ yrs ago) my preferred areas were Hulen, SW Ft Worth, TCU, etc. I must feel SAFE, esp now being disabled. If anyone is inclined, pls help refresh my brain w areas to stay clear of and those that are nice. I'm just looking for clean, safe, cared for properties, w my apt being a 1 or 2 bedroom, washer/dryer connected, wood laminate floors instead of carpet, sunny, etc. For instance am considering complex near Beach/820/183 but need opinions pls? I'll find the apartment hopefully, just need guidance on areas. Thank you so much!

You need to use an apartment locator service. Most of us here have no idea about specific complexes and what they offer, but the locator services are very familiar with that.

Beach and 183…safe? I would not live there as a single female. Look at the businesses up and down Beach by the Walmart. Lots of fast food, used car dealerships, industrial businesses, liquor stores, and pawn shops. Beach and 820 is the Fossil Creek area, which is better, but the apartments are mostly surrounded by businesses, and traffic in that area can be very heavy.

Honestly, it depends on your budget. Also, it's really hard to find a handicapped-accessible apartment. My mom is handicapped and uses a walker. She also falls easily. We made her move from Richardson to a place near us so I could help her out. We live in SW Fort Worth near the south end of Bryant Irvin. It wasn't cheap but we moved her into a 1 bedroom, 1 bath in a brand new active senior living complex 8 minutes from us at Alta Mesa and Chisholm Trail. I chose it for many reasons including the fact that they allowed us to install shower and toilet grab bars. The floors are all LVP, which is easier for her with the walker. I was also able to get her an apartment where she can walk right out her door straight to her car without going down any steps. She just has to navigate the curb.
