Hi all,

I have a relative who is about to move to DFW from Asia. She has 2 boys that attends Middle School. They will be English Language Learners. Which of these ISD (Carroll iSD/GCISD/NorthwestISD/Keller ISD or Flower Mound ISD) has strong ESL program for middle and high school? I think Carroll will be too competitive for them, due to their language disadvantage. The mom will need to find out which school district is the best for the kids before she buys a home. Thank you in advance!

What is her budget for housing? Southlake is very expensive (most homes close to $1M), and has no apartments to rent. The other cities are not as expensive and do have rental apartments.

GCISD has a very strong ESL program in all grade levels, and 10% of their students are in ESL. https://www.gcisd.net/page/bilingual-esl/

Carroll ISD will be very competitive, and they have only 3% ESL students. https://sites.google.com/southlakeca...t-bilingualesl

Flower Mound is served by the Lewisville ISD. 20% of LISD students are in ESL programs. https://www.lisd.net/page/24174

Northwest ISD has 6.9% of their students in ESL programs. https://www.nisdtx.org/departments/a...l-services/esl

Keller ISD has 10% ESL students. https://www.kellerisd.net/Page/338

Thank you so much for the info! GCISD and Keller ISD both looks great for English language learners then. Will you say GCISD is the best in terms of supporting English language learners? or Keller and Lewisville are about the same? Thank you!

I'm neither an educator nor a parent, so I can only go off statistics. I lived in Grapevine for 20 years, and I heard very good things about their ESL program while I was there.

Lewisville ISD covers a very varied area. Flower Mound is more affluent, and will likely have less ESL students, while Lewisville itself is not as affluent and will likely have more ESL students.

Honestly I would look into the school board members and read their profiles. I would try to avoid any that have members who are financed by PAC's or gfo with the one with the least PAC members(you might need to google their names, because they are there to push an agenda: religious indoctrination, limiting learning and banning books, their ultimate goal is to sabotage public schools so people like abbott have an excuse to enforce school vouchers which financial benefits primary the wealthy and to have schools converted from public to christian/church owned/ran"education" centers. Churches can then indoctrinate from grades k-12, according to statics church attendance(donations) have been going down each generation hence the need for indoctrination, gotta get that money flowing back and to receive taxpayer funds because in their world Separation of church and state is either wrong or doesn't exist.

Abbott signed a law allowing School boards to fire licensed and vetted counselors with unvetted/no background check, uncertified Chaplins. Personally I wouldn't be comfortable with some random "cergy" roaming the halls of my kid's school unchecked.

Good luck. If that is anyone's criteria for finding a suitable district, that's going to be tough. There are few, if any districts in the area, that don't fit that description. The ones that do likely will eventually.
