I have just transferred to Carrollton tax for work but have not found a place yet to buy a house. I have kids that are 8,9,&10. I want a family friendly environment, with good schools and not more then 45 min from work. My wife wants to find the Mayberry type of naborhood. Our house spending is max 400,000. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Anything in Tarrant County is going to be too far away for a reasonable commute. You need to limit your search to Collin and Denton County.

Carrollton itself can be nice, especially in the part north of the PGBT.

Carrollton in the Hebron High School attendance zone is very desirable. What’s your budget for housing?

It seems hard to get to Mayberry within a reasonable commute to Carrollton, but maybe look at Flower Mound and Corinth.

For that budget, I’d look in The Colony or in Highland Village

Mayberry....hmmm I think that is in North Carolina.
I think the closest you can get to that is perhaps Coppell or Grapevine. Cornith is worth a look or one of the small cities around Corinth like Hickory Creek, Shady Shores, Lake Dallas.
I suggest these as they are the smaller cities surrounded by big cities.....School systems are smaller, cities are smaller. You tend to see the same people around at the schools and library and grocery and post office. Hard to know that until you live in one.
