Hi,

We're moving to the area this summer. Between smart TVs, Apple TV, and Hulu Live TV, I'm hoping we can make do without cable. For those of you who don't have cable, who is your internet provider? It seems like AT&T and Frontier are both pretty popular. I'd love to hear feedback on speed, service, connectivity, etc.

If there's anyone else who's cut the cord, I'd love hear what's working for you. Specifically how you watch sports (Fox Sports Southwest, NBA, NFL, NHL, etc).

Thanks!

Sports is a challenge with no TV service, except that many people in the Metroplex can get channels 4, 5, 8, and 11 over the air. YouTube TV has several sports channels but the monthly fee is $50.

We switched from AT&T to Charter because they guarantee 100 Mbps download speeds. AT&T wasn't bad, just expensive for the speeds you get. You need speed if you are going to be streaming in high definition. We survive off of Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video.

Sports can be a challenge. For local channels you can get a digital antennae from Walmart that will work just fine. If you have a friend or family member that has cable and will let you use their login info, you can download each channels app and login individually. Kind of a pain but it works. Sling TV has a $20 a month package with most sport channels. If you don't mind a little swashbuckling and know what websites to look for you can find most professional sports online for free.

We pay $40/mo for Spectrum. 400 mbps down/20 mbps up. We don't watch sports so I can't help you there. We are happy with Netflix and Amazon

Streaming is not cord cutting.

Buy/install antenna and set up your own own DVR system. I use Tablo with a hard drive.

You can add various streaming packages, but that's not "cutting" the cord.

I say that because those streaming services quickly went from "give me a handful of cable channels I want" at a decent price to.....

Hipsters demanding every channel known to man should be included in every streaming service.

I's funny how "cord cutters" are paying much than if they stayed with their old service.

I might switch back to traditional feeds because that is cheaper.

Thank you, hipsters for demanding MTV 41, ESPN 92, all 800 FX sports channels, etc...while ruining a good thing...
