Thanks for all of the replies so far. I think we have decided that we want to purchase a lakefront home as our primary residence.

We are looking mostly at Eagle Mountain lake and Lake Granbury, understanding that Granbury will be a longer commute.

Any suggested areas or parts of either lake we should stay away from? We are trying to stay under the $450k price range, but don't want to move into a sketchy area.

Thanks for any advice.

Might also consider Keller, northeast of FW. Some good golfing is nearby and not far from Lake Grapevine. Also, its close to good dining and shopping in Southlake and Grapevine. Keller is less pricey than Southlake and Eagle Mountain and less than 20 miles to downtown Fort Worth.

Friends of ours just sold their parents' home in Harbor Lakes on Lake Granbury.

It was both on the golf course, overlooking a water hazard -- and it was lakefront on Lake Granbury.

Stunning property.

It needed a slight amount of updating (carpet, really)...they sold it for low-400s.

There are some deals to be had in that area.

That sound like something I'm hoping for.

Thanks,
Mike
