What do y'all think about the reasons listed? I've seen complaints about the lack of pro sports in Fort Worth her before.

Honestly, D/FW isn't a sports or music town.

D/FW loves "winners" and will support those teams 100% however if a team is rebuilding...yeah, no one cares.

For example, there are way more "die hard" cowboys fans in other states than their are here. When the cowboys aren't winning, it's not uncommon to see people at stores, wearing cowboys gear, shopping, while the game is being played. Why aren't those "fans" at least home watching the game? Because they are bandwagon fans that only support winners.

Same with the Rangers, Mavs and especially the Stars.

Why would local press spend money covering something most "fans" don't really care about, especially when they can get the same content from local radio.

I'm willing to be that the average local "die hard" fan would be hard pressed to name more that 5 players on their "favorite" teams.

Fort Worth hasn't had a "hometown team" to rally behind since 1959. Post-World War II, both Fort Worth and Dallas had their own baseball teams until they merged in 1960. After the domed multi-purpose stadium proposal "Bi-County Stadium" never materialized, Turnpike Stadium opened on the same site in 1965 in hopes of an expansion team that ultimately went to Montreal. When the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs were replaced by the Texas Rangers in Arlington, any hopes of Fort Worth and Dallas having separate sports identities was gone.

Having a single major league team like the San Jose Sharks representing Fort Worth was more likely to happen than "dual-team" markets in Oakland and San Francisco or Los Angeles and Anaheim, but there isn't reason for a major league team in Fort Worth as long as the Cowboys and Rangers can straddle both cities in Arlington.

I really think you're exaggerating this.

Exactly. And considering the cost of AT&T Stadium and the new baseball stadium, it would be absolutely stupid to try to house a competing team just a few miles away.

Fort Worth has the Stock Show, which has nothing even close to compare in Dallas. And when the new Dickies Arena opens later this year, it will rival the AAC to host concerts and events. Let's see how it goes!

The Cowboys and the Rangers are both in Tarrant county. There's no way that you could have additional major sports teams in the same county in either baseball or football because of this...And, well, the DFW area is only going to get one franchise in each of the 4 major sports. That leaves minor league baseball, soccer, women's basketball, and 2nd tier pro football leagues. To be honest, so much of the population growth of the DFW area has been in the Frisco/north Dallas area..so, it makes since that any non big 4 sports franchise would look to have their franchises in that location..

I love fort worth.. It's just not going to garner any professional sports franchises with the exception of possibly the Fort Worth Cats at some point.

Got to a grocery store or home depot like store while the cowboys, using them because they have a pretty set time of play every week, are actually playing at that moment and you tell me.

It looks a lot different when the cowboys have a winning record and when they don't.

Go to a Stars game. Most of the crowd doesn't even show up until the game has been going for 20 or 30 minutes.
