Hello,

I’m looking at a possible relocation to DFW area. I will be working over at University of North Texas in Fort Worth if all goes as planned. We currently live in a Houston suburb ( Richmond - fort bend county which is diverse with great schools) and love the community we are in so trying to find something similar around Dallas/Fort Worth. We are somewhat heart broken about leaving this area because of how wonderful it has been but, so is life. Here are some thing’s that are important for us to be able to choose the right community:

- reasonable commute to UNT (max 45 mins). This is a flexible job so travel during offpeak is fine.
- good schools. We have two kids, first and third grade. They are currently going to a school that has a rating of 10/10 on greatschools.org
- house budget Max of 325,000. Looking for a newish build. At least 2011 or newer.
- are there areas with master planned communities with trails, community pools, gym, schools in the neighborhood etc? Our community here in Richmond has this and we love it so hoping to find this in Dallas too.
- we are a Muslim Indian family so would like to be in a diverse area where we are accepted.

Hoping someone in this Forum could recommend some areas and communities to look at.

Thank you so much

If you’re working in Fort Worth, then you need to live in Tarrant or far southern Denton County. Anywhere else will be a lengthy commute.

For a master planned community with very good schools, look at Keller, north Fort Worth or Argyle. You might also look at the new Walsh Ranch development on the west side of Fort Worth. (I have no idea about the schools there.) Keller and north Fort Worth are very diverse. I’m not sure about Argyle or Walsh Ranch.

There are no houses in Southlake for a $325k housing budget. (There is a 2 bedroom condo for $250k.)

Roanoke might be another possibility.
