Looking at applying for a job in Alvarado, TX but worried no nice places are near it to live. I require low crime, the wife requires lots of amenities and shopping. Is there any place within a decent commute to live that fits our bill? Thanks in advance.

Might receive more advise on the Fort Worth forum. Could also use a little more information.
Burleson, Mansfield, Midlothian, maybe Cleburne. Burleson is a nice midway between Alvarado & Fort Worth.

Thanks for the advice about the Forth Worth Forum. I didn't know there was a difference between the two cities. I'll re post it there as well. But just curious, do you think Burleson fits with what I'm looking for? Income is 115k and we don't have kids so schools are not a concern. Have two small dogs. Will be renting for at least first year.

Yes, Dallas and Fort Worth are around 30 miles away from each other with several suburbs in between them. If you are renting your first year, $115k will be just fine. If you were wanting to live in Alvarado, it is much cheaper due to its distance from the major cities. I'm looking at the houses for sale right now and you can get a new home for $250K. The closer you get to Fort Worth or Dallas, you will see more prices at $350K and up.

Burleson, Cleburne, Midlothian, Mansfield. All are a reasonable commute to and from Alvarado and you should find what you're looking for as far as housing goes. Midlothian is probably on the fringe for shopping and amenities, but it's growing and it's pretty close to Mansfield and Cedar Hill.

Yeah, I would still consider Burleson as a good choice same with Mansfield. Midlothian is a bit smaller and newer, but growing.

Joshua is a nice little town with good schools. That puts you close to the Chisholm Trail Tollway that provides easy access to the big shopping area of Cityview and Ridglea.

Taking I-35 north from Alvarado into Fort Worth is a nightmare with lots of traffic.
