We're looking for a great place to go camping within about 3 hours of Keller. Something with lots of trees & stuff to do. Any suggestions?

Find a nearby state park and enjoy! There are LOTS within a 3 hour drive from DFW. Anything in south or east Oklahoma, or north, central or east Texas is definitely within that range.

While it may be pushing three hours, might be four hours, I do like the Palestine and Rusk areas of Texas and the Texas State Railroad. I believe there is a State Park in Rusk.

You can get to Palestine in TWO hours. VERY easy drive out 175 and 19. Yes, there is a small state park in Rusk.

Although there aren't a lot of large/forest-type trees, Dinosaur Valley in Glen Rose is great. They do a lot of good family programs and there is a lot of hiking space. My family camped there for years when I was a kid, and my sister takes her kids there now.

In Oklahoma, Beaver's Bend and Turner Falls are GREAT. Families fill both up quickly in the summers, so reserve early. There are actually lots of trees at both parks.

Hi

The Palestine/Rusk area is nice for camping. Lake Palestine is very nice as well. But more forest like in the Palestine/Rusk area.
I also agree. Possum Kingdom Lake is great for camping. The lake is beautiful but it has been awhile & can't remember what all there is to do out in PK. Mineral Wells & Graham has a few things. MW State Park has the bike trail that goes from Mineral Wells to Weatherford.
South of Palestine 40 more miles is Sam Houston National Forest the biggest in Texas. That would be some fun camping
Lots of places

I went to Possum Kingdom earlier this summer (late spring). It's about 2 hours west of FW. Do check it out!

Dinosaur Valley State Park. It has a lot of stuff to do and ponder about dinos, also good hiking trails, and playing in the river. Its by Glen Rose and there are plenty to do there as well, do check it out. I like PK mentioned before but it is kind of remote, but it has the lake and great scenery, and big starry skies.
