No houses for sale in our subdivision for several months
Keep reading there are few homes for sale
Is this a good time to try selling by owner?

We have a realtor we used before we would go to but the idea of keeping more money for ourselves is enticing

We mentioned to our neighbors we likely were selling and relocating and the guy told my husband today he might know someone interested...

Many buyers, self included, won't even look at FSBO due to bad experiences with the owner trying to hide issues.

In this market, a good realtor will help you manage showings, multiple offer negotiations, getting the best price for your house, etc.

We are getting ready to put our Grapevine house on the market, and our realtor has told us it won't last a week, and we will likely have multiple offers over our listing price. You'd be selling yourself short to do a private sale.

A realtor will likely get you more money than selling it on your own.
I'm closing on a house in Bedford today and have a list to 50 buyers that might be interested.
Rarely do I want to deal with FSBOs as a buyer's agent. Just too many issues that can make the deal go south.

I agree with Christie- I think you'll pay for the agent with the sellers market as long is your house is in good shape and ready to go. Now, if your house is really dated and not in a great area, maybe FSBO can work. I don't think that's your situation though based on your other posts. I do know folks who have done it, but I don't really have anything to offer other than anecdotes.

FSBO's are tricky. Typically the seller will be way too emotionally attached to the situation.

Make sure you get a real estate agent who is active as a realtor and not just someone who is licensed with a business card. On our most recent transaction we wound up with someone who was recommended to us, but I knew way more about contracts and understood the option period more so than our real estate agent did.
