My husband and I are relocating from Canada to Texas. My husband is currently working in Irving. We have two children ages 6 & 2. What would be the best areas for our children. A 30 minute communte for my husband is not a problem. We will be looking at renting a house so if there is anything we should know about renting that would be appreciated as well.
Thanks for your help!!

better ISDs are north of 183/Airport Freeway--just depends on your budget
how much you want to spend--some of the better ISDs have few homes for rent and those would normally be considered "expensive"--more than 2K a month...
check out the thread on the Dallas board right now aboiut TAKS--a state standardized test and its most recent results...

My husband is a teacher (high school level) in the Irving school district. We moved to Texas from Oklahoma last summer after my husband retired as a high school principal ~ husband isn't old enough to retire but had enough years in with the Oklahoma school system to "retire". When we first moved to Texas we rented a house in Euless and recently purchased a home and moved to Hurst. My husband drives to/from work on Trinity Boulevard so he can stay off 183. Trinity is a straight shot from Irving to the mid-cities area. Hurst, Euless, Bedford are part of the HEB school district (Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD).

Good luck!
