The best schools are in Southlake. You can get a house in the mid 300's but it will be older and smaller than what you could afford in Keller. If you are buying long term you will likely see more appreciation in Southlake as well. I bought a foreclosure in Southlake in the 300's and made out like a bandit after some minor exterior work and landscaping. I cannot stand living in tract home neighborhoods like Keller is full of. . I have 1.1 acres 3200 sq ft. home, scenic old growth trees, near parks, near the lake. No crime.

Tami,

I've been reading this morning and feel you are on the right tract... The north Keller area north of 1709 is my favorate area in Keller. I lived on Ottinger for 11 years. I moved south of 1709 into a home almost twice the size of our home on Ottinger and have regreted it every since. There is a home in Belaire Hills Estates that you might want to see. It's almost 1 ac with pool. The elementry school for the area if Florence it is exemplary and the intermediate school is Bear Creek. Keller middle school and Keller High. I have kids in the Keller school district we have been very pleased.

Default Money Magazine ranks Keller #50 "Top 100 Cities"

there are restaurants in the AREA that are close and good but they might be in Southlake or Roanoke (like Babe's fried chicken) or Wautauga

and it is right on target to say that not all areas of Keller are equal--but that is true about almost any town in the Mid-Cities--including Southlake...
the important ranking comes from knowing which is which and definitely which house is overpriced for its area...
What are you, the queen of England? "FRANKLY" In 2008, Keller was rated one of the top 100 cities in the US at number 50 in Money Magazine.

Default House in Southlake

Southlake real estate is taking off. Existing home values went up 12% last year. It's gaining name recognition nationwide, in no small part to the Town Center and High School football team. I can't stress enough how much a SMALL school district in an exclusive area becomes a magnet for high end buyers.

The Elementary school our kids go to is the number one ranked elementary in all of Tarrant County. (As are the middle schools and High Schools). They have a pre-med program in the high schools. This particular elementary posts testing rates higher than Highland Park Schools in Dallas. Our son's scouting troop has forty active members. You're lucky to get 6 boys together in other areas.

Also don't let others here that don't live hear tell you about how snobby it is.
People have been nothing but nice. I have a pickup truck out front and a vegetable garden in back. The guy across the street from me raises chickens.

You will never see the real estate appreciation in Keller that you would in Southlake.

Hi Padcrasher,

We are going through same situation as yours. We wanted to buy a house in Southlake in low 300's and built in 1997 and floorplan is
3400 sq ft. Now my questions are like ::
# Can my kids in elementary school withstand the peer pressure?
# Do you think the house price will appreciate in future?
# Is there any possibility to change border limits of ISD's?
For example : Is there any possibility change a house address from Carroll ISD to Keller ISD in future?

Please send some suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

there is NO possibility to change from Keller ISD to Southlake or vice versa
that would be giving money (tax source) away
not going to happen

Default Southlake home prices and being a "have not" among the rich

Southlake has awesome schools- Colleyville does as well. The biggest difference is that Carroll ISD-Southlake has about 8,000 students. Colleyville-Grapevine has about 80,000.
Is this quote accurate? Can other residents of Southlake please comment? I am considering moving to Southlake from New York City. I am also considering Coppell because of its proximity to Texas Dreams gymnastics where I hope my daughter will be part of the team.
