ooh and if I remember correctly that was in the past this is the year 2008. You as well fall in the same category of not knowing what your talking about. East Fort Worth crime is at a all time low and gang violence is almost non existence in East Fort Worth now. Maybe you should hit the ground of East Fort Worth sometime before you make such assumptions. People think they know so much but in actuality they know so little. Anybody that make such assumptions about east Fort Worth than I will continue to call them out becuase for some reason people get the impression that all of East Fort Worth is bad and that simply is not true

From my experience, people who frequent coffee shops on a regular basis are the least intellectual of any. It's all about appearing to be intellectual, which I'm still at a loss how reading the newspaper in a coffee shop makes one "sophisticated." Oh well.

Fort Worth has its own liberal area, it's called Dallas. You might try that, although you'll still see plenty of Applebees and WalMarts. I hope that doesn't offend your delicate elitist eyes.

I worked on John T White with Dept of Human Services--the area I saw was not middle class--the people I talked to that lived in that area were all ethnic groups but they were not like your mom...they were barely scraping by obviously if they were receiving benefits...
I know that a couple of people I worked with lived in that area and they talked about cars being broken in in apt parking lots...but that can happen in other areas as well...

check out a crime map and you will see that area
Crime Statistics for Fort Worth, Dallas, TX - REALTOR.com
there is a definite red zone around John T White and then as it goes east of 820 it dissipates--maybe that is where your mom is...
remember that part of the area north of John T White that shows light actually has no housing because that is Trinity River bottom area
but I will admit the Lancaster Berry area was lighter than I thought it would be from what I have seen and read in papers...
don't know how old the stats are---may be very current since they are on rearltor.com

Areas of Fort Worth that tend to lean left: The Near South Side is the best bet. That section of town includes Fairmount, Ryan Place Berkeley Place, Mistletoe Heights, as well as some emerging urban neighborhoods. Magnolia Avenue is fantastic and the social hub of this section of town. Many people also tend to like neighborhoods on the near west side of Fort Worth: Monticello, North Hi Mount, Crestwood, Arlington Heights, which are probably more conservative but really quite diverse and have very well educated populations, close access to Downtown and the museums, restaurants, bars, etc. Fort Worth is a great city with a great arts scene, downtown, and its best years still to come. welcome.

the article in FTW paper this week shows FTW having strong bent to Rick Perry--that Hutchinson is slipping--Debra Medino has made up some ground...
so I don't think you can hope to find "pockets" or "enclaves" of liberals--you have to look for individuals--
my husband and I are both liberals and we know some others who are but they are either our children or friends we made right out of college--none of the people my husband works with would deign to be called a "liberal" and most of the teachers at school were I taught were conservative Republicans..not Democrats...
not that anyone is rabid about being in your face to convert you--but you just can't have too many discussions about politics and other social issues...

Considering you worked for the department of human services maybe that is why? Plus my mom got a nice big house built in the area. Her neighbors come from all different ethnic groups. One of the more diverse areas of the city. Plenty of million dollar mansions and middle class families in the area. The new development in the area is served by the Birdville ISD.

Sure no problem...

I live in the area I should know. Very foolish on your behalf to think you know the area better than a native PROUD East Fort Worthian.

No, there are no really "liberal" areas of Ft. Worth. It's about as easy to be a liberal in Ft Worth as it is to be a conservative in the SF Bay Area. Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are taken as the gospel. Do yourself a favor and move to Austin or Houston instead.
