I should probably change my username to Texas Mom now.

Where are the best "out of the way" - unknown restaurants?

I now live in Glen Rose, and just found the greatest restaurant. It's called Loco Coyote. It's kind of hidden - out in the middle of nowhere. The floors are covered with wood shavings, and the restaurant is in a barn/house (I've heard it called both) with a few picnic tables. It's a total dive in appearance.

The Loco Coyote has weird hours - call first.

They open at 4:00 on Fridays, and we went there last night for my birthday. My husband got off work at 5:00 and we were at the restaurant by 5:30, and we had an hour wait. But it was so worth the wait.

It was the absolute BEST food I've ever had. I had the rib plate and it was more food than 3 adults could eat. It was PHENOMONAL! The onion rings were so good, even my husband, who does not like onion rings, ate them. The people at table next to us ordered a large hamburger, and it was the largest hamburger I've ever seen. It could easily feed several hungry adults.

Anyway, the Loco Coyote is literally this barn out in the middle of nowhere - but the food certainly puts this place on the map.

Next time I'm in Glen Rose I'll have to check that place out. It sounds great. Thanks for the post; I'm always on the search for good food.
