Red Light cameras are in Arlington? That grim news. They are used to raise money for the city for the most part, who is kidding who. Studies shows accidents increase when cameras are installed. I wonder when they installed 'em.

Just this morning I saw a red light camera snap on someone going through a *green* light. Not red, not yellow, full green.

These cameras are BS.

The cameras are indeed BS.
George Orwell would be proud!
And the fact that it is a civil matter (not criminal and not a "moving violation" despite what people on here may say) means that the city does not have to prove you guilty beyond a responable doubt... it's just a preponderance of the evidence.
What that means, in short, is you actually have to fight to prove your innocence instead of the burden being on the government. and if the red light cameras are as accurate as the toll booths in North Dallas (I frequently put the money requested in the bucket and the light stays red... what am I supposed to do at this point... Ive paid the money!), then they are giving tickets to people all the time to don't deserve them and will have trouble fighting them.
For all those people who suport them, hopefully you will get one or two (or more) tickets undeservidly - and then see where you stand. Or, the car behind you rear ends you at an intersection because you jam on the brakes so you don't go through the red light.
The cities use it to generate revenue. They don't report minor fender benders at the intersections with cameras to claim a reduction of accidents. I'd be interested to look at fatalities at these intersections since those numbers can't be fudged... I would be surprised if there was any statistically significant difference.

I got a ticket making a right turn on a red light. Saw no traffic coming so I used my signal and made my right turn safely. Seven days later, I a get a $75.00 ticket. I am going to appeal it.
Turning right when it's safe. Shame on them for charging me $75.00. And it's all on camera. Everyone who gets these tickets, should appeal them. The city of Arlington is sure making some fast cash.

Just got one in the mail from Watauga for a right turn onto 377. No clue if it was me behind the wheel.

In the trash it went.

An interesting read.
