Look at this building it is hideous. Its been around since 1898. Why couldn't this building have been struck and destroyed by the 1999 tornado. This building should be destroyed and something else like a 40+ new At&T building would be nice. This building and the Barnett Plaza should have been first on the list for the revitalization of downtown FortWorth.

There are several that our ugly.
We have the most plain looking city hall in the world. Move it to the old post office and replace it with a new tower..... same thing with the AT&T Building.

First I have to say...WOW! 1999!! I can't believe it has been that long ago since the tornado hit! (time sure flies when you get older).

However...I agree that there are some pretty blah "skyscrapers" and buildings downtown. It's not that I don't like the size of the skyline (or heights of the "skyscrapers") but rather the looks of the buildings that are downtown and/or in the skyline (BORING). Personally, I couldn't stand the Tandy Towers...even with the "Feliz Navidad" in lights during the holidays. It did get a small makeover...as well as some other buildings downtown. So...who knows what the future brings?

With this all said. I LOVE Fort Worth...even with the blah buildings.

Yeah it is ugly and my old employer has not and does not do much to help it. They do not even light up the outline anymore which does **** me off/ I see the skyline from my den.

Trouble is, that building is one of the main switching centers, not just Fort Worth but all of North Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The thing is jammed full of electronics and cable..that building is going nowhere boys. It would cost more money than you can even imagine just to cut around the service and not weeks or months, but years to make the transfer. the building was built to last 500 years. In the case of disaster I am heading to any of our switching centers. had the tornado hit that building the tornado would have lost. The windows are super thick wire reenforced glass.

Ya I agree, it definitely is ugly and needs to be replaced with a new, nice, modern building!

Let's all pray for a very isolated tornado to touch down, do its job, and then the hell out of there.

I didn't know the building was that old. Guess we're stuck with it, though!
