My husband and I are moving to Texas. We have our hearts set on living in Plano, and may still, but he has recently gotten a job offer in Weatherford, so we are looking at the Fort Worth area as well. Does anyone have a perspective on either of the places, good or bad? We want culture, safe and walkable neighborhoods, and nearby parks and trails. We would love to walk out our front door, and be a short walk to a little coffee shop, in an ideal world. Do both places provide this type of lifestyle? Does one more than another? Any neighborhood suggestions? Any comment or perspective would be so helpful!

weatherford is not that close to ftw--it is a 30+ min drive from downtown FTW to Weatherford on a good day so I don't know if you would want to make that commute round trip

--the atmosphere you are describing can be found in several areas of FTW and the Mid-Cities and Dallas and its suburbs--but I dont think Weatherford would offer the "walk out our front door to a coffee shop"--Weatherford has one Starbucks on S Main north of the I-20 Freeway that runs through town...

you don't mention price--which is always a quantative in moving choices--
you could live in downtown FTW in a condo or find SFR in several areas of FTW and suburbs

why don't you do some generic searching on this site and the Dallas board

but you can't live in Dallas and work in Weatherford which I guess you know--frankly I would not live in FTW and work in Weatherford and that is where you would have to be to get the atmosphere you say you want...

I'm with loves2read. I'd check out DT Fort Worth. Although Weatherford is 30 miles from Fort Worth, I doubt that the commute would be a hard one as you won't be heading into the heart of the Metroplex, where traffic congestion is really, really (did I say REALLY?) bad.

I'll third that. DO NOT live in Weatherford if you want walkable neighborhoods. As has been said only Ft. Worth, Dallas, and some other suburbs offer a semi walkable lifestyle. If your husband does take the job in Weatherford, Ft. Worth will probably be your best bet but again, there will be a lil bit of a commute for him.
