I'm looking for psychiatrist for a friend who really needs someone who will do more than just write a script. Someone who will listen and has empathy towards their patient is a must.

any recommendations?

There is The Hopper Group, I have met Dr Hopper, and he seems to be a wonderful person. Sounds like a good psyscologist or psychiatrics could help. Good Luck finding help for your friend. Their website is www.thehoppergroup.com.

my friend who lost her husband about 4 yrs ago went to a grief counselor to deal with her depression and other emotions--she thought he was helpful--
the reason your friend needs counseling probably should influence the type of person s/he chooses

some people can benefit from group interaction and some need a real MD/psychiatrist
psychologists can't write scripts....
