I am a first time home buyer who has lived in the Arlington-Ft. Worth areas for 6 years. I am looking to buy a home in Ft. Worth proper that could use some work, but under 100K. Outside of finding an absolute steal in Arlington Heights, Fairmount or the edges of Ridglea, where would be a safe/nice neighborhood to look. I have been on the hunt for a couple of months now and I haven't quite bought into the idea of moving north (i.e. Fossil Creek/Keller areas). I appreciate the suggestions.

If schools are not of concern come to White Lake Hills and the houses on the south side of 30 between Oakland and 820. Across 820 you might score too. Schools suck though.
