I am wondering if those living in and around Flower Mound, have flood insurance? Is this area, considered to be in a Flood Zone?

TIA

Flood zone is controlled by FEMA
some areas were rezoned in past 12-18 mo because of severe flooding that happened more than 4 yrs ago (FEMA does not move too quickly)
almost all of the rezoning was done without FEMA lifting a transit to actually do any on-the-ground measurements so most of it was guestimate

the flooding that happened to cause the damage was truly a 100 yr flood according to the US Weather service--from what the person I spoke to at Bedford Streets dept told me when we were contesting a FEMA flood ruling that put the flood zone in the middle of our garage at our Bedford house
we filed an appeal for that and had the flood zone moved to far corner of our property--
since house (which has the mortgage) is not in flood zone, we are not required to have flood insurance now

there are likely areas in Flower Mound that might require flood insurance if they are in low-lying areas, by the lake or by creekbeds
just depends and that has to be disclosed by the seller

our Bedford house has never had any water inside our fence from the run-off creek behind our house--even with all the horrible rain/flooding in 06 (I think it was) so we are not too worried

Is Tarrant county synonymous with Ft Worth in the same sense that Dallas county is synonymous with Dallas ?

This will be our first time to Texas, as well as our first time
to Denton County and the surrounding areas.
Was considering McKinney when it was booming, but
family business (control-fear) kept us at bay, until 2 years ago.
We are finally free. Mid 50's, and finally free, after being
consumed and controlled, since the age of 12.

Have had business associates over the last 30 years, that
lived in, or still live, in Texas. The Houston and Austin areas.
They have had nothing but good to say, and we are eager
to finally be able to come and check it out.

Been told its very humid out their way, so that is one variable as
to why we researched the Fort Worth outskirts area.

Other variables which have led us to the FM area;
our sons friend went to college in Dallas, and recommended
we look into Flower Mound. My mom's Oncologist lived in Fort
Worth, (now works at USC Med Ctr. in California) and also
had talked of the Flower Mound area.

We are coming on a leap of faith.

Lets hope this leap is a good one, because moving to Hawaii,
sure has been a bust. Wanted so badly to distance ourselves
from our families, (source of pain) but this has been a nightmare, financially and
the distance from the mainland.

Once the family business was done with (economy took it under
after almost 40 years)
we felt, 'my gosh, we can go anywhere, do what we want'.
We moved to Hawaii, and it was NOT the right thing to do.
Wasted so much money getting here, and losing money leaving here.

Moved all of our furnishings, vehicles, etc., out here, and now upon going
back to the mainland, we are only bringing our suitcases of clothes and vehicles.

After some therapy, we now know that after traumatic events,
it's best to not make any major decisions for a minimum of a year.

(getting off the therapist's couch now)
Thanks for listening

for many people YES--Tarrant county and FTW and synonymous--
but for people who KNOW Tarrant county FTW is just large town IN Tarrant--

and I don't consider that Dallas county is synonymous with Dallas city--
there are many other towns in Dallas county that seem to be managed more effectively than Dallas itself for one thing

For flooding, search online paper archieves from the last few years. Flower mound should have a local paper that would have article on recent flooding etc...We did this when we moved to Keller and helped us know what area of town was prone to flooding during heavy rains, tropical storms etc...
