That's going to be a tough row to hoe. It may be time to just start driving up and down the roads in and around Tarrant County looking for rigs and inviting yourself on location to beg for a job. Surely a mud-man somewhere needs a helper or some greenhorn failed a drug-test and the crew is short. Land drilling is lying flat on its back right now and this is going to take some legwork. It will pick up eventually, but you could be waiting around for a long time.

I know this isn't what you were asking about, but offshore is still fairly active when contrasted against land drilling. You may want to check around with some offshore drilling contractors (most will have websites with righand applications) like Noble, TransOcean, Pride, DOD, etc. It will be a longer rotation, but you may find your way into better money anyway.

I have a relative that works offshore and he said that they are cutting back because he was going to attempt to get a friend a job and they wouldn't even take the application since they aren't hiring.

I'm sure that anyone looking for rig work is going to encounter a lot of that, however, I know that TransOcean is hiring (for one, at least).

With all due respect "loves2read", the person has probably already looked on job boards, etc. but is reaching out, desperately, anywhere he can to find a job or a connection. Have a heart!
