How is the teacher demand (K-8) for a Bi-Lingual Teacher/ESL?

Is it as "easy" as Phoenix? Especially for an English/Spanish teacher?

don't know that it is "easy" to get teaching job at any time in this area of TX---very competitive for all regular classes---usually much easier for someone with resource qualifications because there is so much turnover in those jobs...ESL might be easier than regular elementary teachers--but many teachers in this area have their ESL qualifications even if they are not in an ESL classroom per se...

It is probably overstating the obvious but more ESL teachers are required in districts with larger minority student bodies--districts like Southlake need relatively few since they have such small % that require the classes...
districts like FWISD, Dallas, Carrollton, HEB, Arlington, Irving, maybe Keller and Aledo are the ones that come to mind---

you can check district web sites and individual schools--many of them list their teachers so you can see how many ESL classes to a school...

this is link to list of all public school districts in Region 11--region around FTW

http://www.esc11.net/8234398102229/site/default.asp (broken link)

These are jobs I found doing search on Region 11's employment board...
but the districts could have other jobs posted on their own web site--
Lewisville ISD in Region II is fairly large one--in the Dallas region Irving, Dallas ISD, Garland, Mesquite might have openings...

Job opening posted for ESL Consultant--meaning Coordinator position--reguires Masters and I am sure experience in that adminstrative capacity...with Region XI itself...

Everman ISD (just s. of FTW off Loop 820) has several bilingual pre-kindergarten teachers and elementary bilingual posted as of 4/4/07 -- smaller town, lower socioeconomic mainly

Weatherford ISD west of FTW has bilingual teacher (no grade level) posed in March, 07--for 07-08 year...

don't know if you are local to make Job Fairs or just thinking about moving but...found this info from checking a few district web links...

HEB ISD is having job fair and registration is still open---Lewisville ISD is having job fair and registration is still open

Regional Job fair May 7 at Arlington Convention Center--it is a mad house--hard to get a legitimate interview time---many local districts have tables there but so many people come that it is very difficult unless you get early appointment time...everything runs late.....you can google for registration information or get the form from the TEA Region XI web site under Human Resources/job openings...
