we are redoing our front flower beds---
right now at the left side back where the gate goes into the back yard, there is metal gate so you can see through to the AC units...
currently there is a Pampas grass type of plant that my husband wants to take out...
question is what to replace that will be tall enough to hide the AC units but not too bushy and block the gate's swing--it swings OUT--into the front yard...

at first I though crepe myrtle--but it will grow too tall and there is already one on that side of the yard closer to front of house

what about a turk's cap--anyone have one of those?

or maybe a red Texas sage---I hate to use photina because I would not have it any other place in the landscape...
it needs to be about 3-4 ft tall but could go taller if it does not get bushy...

I was going to suggest photina because it grows fast and you can keep it trimmed to the desired height and it doesn't loose leaves in winter!

But a wax leaf lugustrium would work as well.

Euonymus would do well the varigated yellow and green ones are pretty and I've seen them get about 6ft.

Chineese private has white blooms in spring.

wax myrtle

I would say photina as well. Just because you don't have another one in the yard doesn't mean anything other than you have a yard with variety!
