Hello All,

Iam a carpenter here in michigan looking to possibly relocate to the fort worth / arlington area. just wanted to get some insight on the job market for carpenters is like and also good schools . I have 3 daughters 11,9,3 . If anyone can give me some good info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

what type of carpentry are you familiar with--custom builders here seem to be busy ---many of them use Hispanic crews (some of which are very likely illegals) but there are some that use Anglos as well-- know that the cabinet maker co our future builder uses has note on web site looking for experienced people-- FTW is doing big project on Trinity River and Cowboy stadium has all kinds of workers there---

have no clue as to pay rate or benefits with any of these jobs--the cabinet/trim co our builder used advertises that they give benefits--so I am expecting their bid/work will be more expensive than some contractor that has a crew he pays in cash each week and gives nothing extra...

if you are planning to open your own shop as handy type man, then that is different prospect...
You can contact the TX Workforce Commission--which is basically the state employment board--they have offices spread around the area--there is one I know of in the Bedford area and they have a web site that you can register with and job search
You might try Craigs list search in Dallas (they have no FTW board so people from Tarrant co post on Dallas board)...

i have done mostly commercial work schools,retail stores , car dealerships, things like that. There is nothing here in michigan. I told my wife if we move its go0ing to be somewhwere where its warm lol. will check craigs list thank you for the info.
