Thinking about getting Skybeam. Currently have windstream internet at 3mbs..I think. We stream a lot of Netflix. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with streaming netflix near the Godley/Joshua area with Skybeam.

I would love to hear how the rest of the skybeam customers feel about their service at this point.

My provider was acquired in November 2011 by Skybeam. Everything was fine until February 2012. I started seeing weekly loss of service lasting from 30 minutes to a few hours. In March I was seeing daily service drops that would last up to 5 hours at a time. Service would tend to restore itself mysteriously within a hour or less after my call to support, but I never got a return call to tell me what had occurred.

In Late March I started seeing consistant slow response times as well as the frequent service drops. I have had a ticket for the slow response times open since April that I have continued to call daily on to keep it from being closed before the speed is closer to advertised rates. I am normally getting about 240-500 kbs instead of 3Mbs. On April 22nd they finally gave me an appt for a field technician to come out to inspect the installation at their earliest open date in June.

Although their agreement with PVCO was to retain the PVCO staff for support and service, it seems they terminated everyone in January 2012. I was told by the new support center that they do not have any support staff in Texas any longer for any of their infrastructure since everything has been consolidated in Colorado or in their Utah call center. They no longer have any technicians or network engineers available for customer interactions. All customer facing staff are call center agents. The only technical interaction possible for customers is when the call center agent determines a field support person must perform a site inspection. My experience with their field support staff is that they are versed in antennae installations and modem setups, but know little or nothing about the tower or dns infrastructure.

I am looking for an alternative to Skybeam even though all I have found so far are prices at least 50% higher for the same advertised bandwith rates. I am hoping to find someone with at least SOME customer technical support.
