I'm a sigle aa mom moving from CT to DFW for a job. My daughter is 14yrs old and I'll be moving down to Texas Grand Prairie to be exact and I only had a mth to make a decision on where to live(which is too short for me). I decided to live in Grand Prairie. The apartment complex that I'm renting from is in the Arlington School district and I'm not sure if I made the right choice.

My daughter will start Barnett middle school and when I registered her for school my gut feeling was that it wasn't the school for her. Shes in the 8th grade so she will be going to Bowie next year.

Pls some one if you have had kids attend these school give me some insight into the atmosphere. I know everyone is saying that Mansfield is a good school district but I didn't like that it felt like it was out in the middle of no where.

It's too late now to move for this school year but I know they do offer transfers and I would be willing to request a transfer.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Where is your job?

Yes, Mansfield is a good district. If you are unhappy with Grand Prairie then you could also look north to the Hurst Euless Bedford ISD or a bit further to the Grapevine area which is nice and has good schools.

All depends on where you are commuting to.

Bowie is considered fair for the AISD, Martin and Lamar are the top two HSs and people try to get in these areas. A lot of South Arlington is in the Mansfield district and as you said they have good schools.

You can go to APD's website and get statistics. I don't know how much these numbers really reflect the quality of life at each school. The 'type of call' numbers are available when doing searches.
