sorry to hear that shuttle fell by the wayside
Arlington city council and the citizens have resisted the ide of city bus service for the past 40 yrs--and it has a large lower-socioeconomic component growing and also lots of service jobs--traditionally those are the two main components that usually are addressed by public transit
AND you keep junker cars off the road---just not a council that is really into "public" service in some ways...not that I live in Arlington but I can see the need

I don't know about I30 but there are plenty of cars stuck on airport freeway at 7 pm when I am in the parking lot at Spring Creek BBQ looking at them--they are going both ways

I was recently on jury duty in downtown Ft. Worth. I live in southwest Arlington. The drive, I-20 to 820 to 287 to downtown took me 25 minutes. Lamar is east of here but it is also north. I would plan on a 30 minute drive on a regular workday.

However that is a lot of construction on I-30 and on Lamar, too. So for a while the drive would be longer. I worked in the Federal Building in downtown Ft. Worth for 15 years. I lived in this same place. The drive was no trouble at all.

Regarding the backroads, excellent idea. Meadowbrook is good. I think that 80 would be very congested, though. If I was driving it I would take I-30 to Ballpark to Lamar.
