In the Nova area, Bowie is pronounced "boooo-wee". How is it pronounced in Texas? Would someone from lets say, San Antonio, pronounce it different from someone in the Metroplex? Thanks!

I've heard it pronounced "bow-ee" a few times, but generally I hear "boo-ee".

Either way, they'll know what you're talking about. If they don't, just say, "You know, a *real* knife!"

I've always heard it pronounced "boo-ee". The other is just for Jim Bowie and the famous knife.

6 to 1 "Boo-eee" Thanks. My DH grew up near North Richland Hills and says "Bow-ee". But his mother is not a native english speaker so I figured he was screwing it up. Looks like I win the dinner bet
