Hi all, can anybody recommend a good way to get from Fort Worth up to Keller and vice versa avoiding I-35W? I-35 is basically pointless to drive during rush hour b/c of the absurd traffic. Thanks. When I say Keller I mean the Heritage neighborhood.

I guess you have checked out a map--
looks like depending on where you start from in FTW it is possible use 377/ Denton Rd -- my son used to come in from Denton on 377 and he said it was better than using I-35--but he turned off on 114 to come to Mid-Cities area vs downtown FTW
there are lights but it is multi-lane
or a different rd called OLD Denton Rd--that starts out as Mercantile turns into Riverside then into Old Denton according to the Heritage neighborhood's web site's map...

you can also go north on Beach St which can be reached from Airport Frwy or I-30--it is multi-lane street with lights but traffic moves pretty quickly the times I have been driving around NRHills area

I don't know that either one would be faster since there are speed limits and there are police cars around there -- plus some school zones in certain areas which would be in play in the AM commute if not the evening...

***the question of commuting into FTW from Heritage comes up at least once a week or so on this forum--I hope people understand that I-35 N is one of the worst roads to use for commuting to Keller/Denton area...

I prefer North Beech than 377. 377 isn't fun once you south of 820. (but give it a try) you may find it better than I did. It become Belknap.

You don't say where in FT worth you are going to that might help with more work arounds as well.

YOu can't take Old Denton/Riverside all the way as construction where Summerfield is it's blocked off, it's a pretty small 2 lane road and has a school or too on it. I also believe it dead ends into the Prk south of Wetern Center Blvd.

I saw the Old Denton/Riverside looked pinched but thought I read there was supposed to be road project to connect it...
and I agree that North Beach is probably better than 377 but Belknap does move pretty quickly because the lights are timed right--at least the times I have driven it from just north of downtown up into Keller area...

If going from fort worth to denton, try to take BUS 287 torwards Meacham Airpt. Then get on Blue Mound Rd (FM 156) all the way up. vitually no traffic on that road at all!

From downtown Fort Worth to Keller, take BUS 287 torwards Meacham Airpt, then get on FM 156 (Blue Mound Rd). go underneath hwy 81/287 freeway and turn right on Bonds Ranch Rd, left on Harmon Rd, right on Golden Triangle and that should take u strait into Keller. barely any traffic

Thanks for the advice. I work in Arlington now, so in the morning I take Beach all the way down to I-30 and then go east ... it's a pretty quick moving trip down Beach. The afternoon is a different story. I only tried taking 820 to I-35W N once and realized it was a disaster. I mostly try to take back roads up to the 820-183 interchange, and then accept my fate and grind out 820 for the rest of the way to I-30. I've tried back roads all the way but it's never much of a gain in the afternoon ... Rufe Snow, 377, and Beach are all gridlocked.

Nothing ticks me off more than the ridiculousness of 820 and I-35W going down to 2 lanes in places, with 15 feet of median on either side. Absurd.

I believe HornedFrog had the best answer. We moved here almost 25 years ago, and it was a 20-30 minute drive into downtown. However, for years now (because of the I-35 north constant traffic jam) my husband has gone “out of his way to the east” and taken the Davis-820-121 route, because it’s quicker than I-35 and more consistent. He works downtown and makes this trip daily.

yes if you live east of 377. But the OP lives in Heritage (North Tarrant and North Beach area) Heritage is very close to I35.
Going ALL they east to Davis would be a huge waste of Time! and add about 20 minutes on to the commute
