My husband had a CDL (without going to a trucking school) and he couldn't get a job with most companies (especially in town or short distance, to be home more), because all of them wanted at least 6 months experience, most of them at least one year or more. So at the end he went with CR England and he is fine with them. He went to their trucking school in Salt Lake City for 2 weeks and now he is on the road with his trainer. He finished the course as best of his class and he had his road test on Monday, he was on the road Monday evening. He was the first to be send out on the road, because he was doing so good, even after flunking the road test once.
CR England, like Swift, Central Refrigerated and the likes don't have a good reputation, but at least they train. The once with a good reputation don't train and want at least a year experience.
Your brother might have to go with one like CR England, Swift etc., but if he is good, he will get the experience he need to go with a company with a good reputation. And by the way, he get's for the training month around 450 dollars per week. Better than some of the other training companies. My husband is quite happy with CR England. Good luck for your brother.
