What is your favorite restaurant in the Ft. Worth area and why? Is there a local dish in Ft. Worth, or Texas in general, that I would have a hard time finding somewhere else? Did you move to Texas and you can't find your back home favorite dish? (I see a lot here about NY style pizza) Just curious how my diet might change when I move to Texas.

Favorite? I'm almost a life-long lover of Pappadeaux's Cajun seafood (more a Houston thang than FW). Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

I'm addicted to Jamaican food from my years in NY/NJ. The closest thing we have around here is Catfish Cuisine in Grand Prairie. Don't let the name fool you. It's a Jamaican joint. I go at least once a week. http://www.catfishcuisine.com/

Pizza? The best we've found so far is New Yorker Pizza in Arlington.
New Yorker Pizza, Arlington, TX : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local

BBQ? David's in Pantego. David's Barbecue - Pantego, TX

Tacos? Fuzzy's in Arlington. Fuzzy's Taco Shop - Home of Fuzzy's Famous Baja Tacos Much better than most anyplace w/ a drive-through window. I mean LEAGUES better..., except for this place which is... satisfying: El Paisa - Bedford, TX

Those are a few off the top of my head. For the most part, when it comes to many dishes, I find that I do a better job at home myself. Those are a few places that I generally think do a much better job than I could muster.

Favorite (that you can't get anywhere else) - Babe's- Babes Chicken Dinner House - Family Style Restaurants in and around Dallas Fort Worth, Texas

This is one of the two restaurants that we take our out of town family and friends to every time and everyone LOVES it. Be prepared to gain a few pounds!!

Food we miss:

Our hole in the wall traditional mexican food. Tex-Mex isn't it for sure. The closest I have been able to find is a great little place of Main Street just south of the Stockyards called El Asadero - El Asadero Mexican Restaurant (the pictures on the web don't do it justice).

The variety of non-buffet chinese restaurants. Have had to huff it over to Preston Hollow (about an hour away from me) to find my favorite here - Howard Wang's China Bistro - Howard Wang's China Grill - Best Chinese Food in Dallas (214) 366-1606 Take-Out & Delivery
