I'm thinking of moving to Fort Worth TX. I might have an offer from a company based in Fort Worth TX. I want to buy a house in Fort Worth (in Keller ISD and I've been told by a realtor that it has good schools).

There's a possibility that I might work for some company in Dallas in a few years. If I decided to continue living in Fort Worth TX, would the commute back and forth be practical? Are there a lot of people that live in Fort Woth but commute to Dallas for work?

I noticed that houses near Fort Woth are cheaper and there's a lot of newer construction near Fort Worth.

What do you guys think?

Depending on where in Dallas you're commuting to, I give you between 3-6 months before you go postal on a freeway.
It would be more practical and sane to make your rush hour commute bearable. There's lots of pretty good school districts closer to and around Dallas.

You really have to choose where to live. I commuited to Dallas for years and just got used to the traffic. Some people can't though. It's a mind set I guess. As others have said, it would really depend on where in Dallas.
Keller is a good ISD from what I have read.

It depends on when you are commuting and in which direction. I have to go to Dallas in the afternoons fairly often. That isn't so bad, but the westbound traffic is usually a parking lot for miles. I'd probably "go postal" if I had to deal with that every day. The nearly constant construction doesn't help, either.

If you are pretty certain you'll be working out of Dallas within a few years, North Arlington would be a decent compromise, but not any new construction there. Otherwise, Keller is the better choice. I would not want to commute from Keller to Dallas on a regular basis.

Don't try commuting from Keller to Dallas. It will eventually drive you crazy. Try Arlington, half-way between but still in Tarrant County, the county that Ft. Worth is the county seat. Ft. Worth beats Dallas hands down in every way but if you must work in Dallas try Arlington. It is the home of the Texas Ranger stadium, new Cowboy stadium will be there, Six Flags over Texas is there. They have a phone system that is no charge to Dallas or Ft. Worth, (or did when I lived there). You can hardly tell where Ft. Worth ends and Dallas begins now. One BIG metroplex. There is a train that runs from Ft. Worth downtown transportation center to Dallas now, but I am not that familiar with it. Texans do not like mass transportation, hence bumper to bumper traffic.

Thumbs down Commute from Ft. Worth to Dallas

This would not be in your best interest. I live in Arlington, commute to west Ft. Worth on I-20, which runs E-W. What can I say? Eastbound to Dallas is bumper to bumper. Westbound, I arrive at my desk in 25-30 minutes, with rarely any traffic problem. I don't know why, but cross the Tarrant county line into Dallas county, and bam!, really agressive, nut case drivers.

My advice would be to move to Dallas if you plan to work there. Good luck.

Definitely look into Grapevine. We are about half way between Dallas and Ft Worth with a good school district, nice people, great shopping, variety of restaurants, and a nice small town feel.

Hello Anil....You may get tired of that drive back and forth along with others. Why don't you consider somewhere in the middle like Grapevine or Flower Mound. Both have excelllent schools districts and it makes the commute either way a bit more tolerable.
