Over 500 people voted 365-41 aganist establishing a Samaritian House in the Como Community. Ms. Pitts would be proud!!!!



Yellow signs saying "No Samaritan House" were posted in several front yards near the community center.
Voters formed a long line where they were required to show proof of their connection to the neighborhood. People could vote only if they lived in Como, owned property in Como or were a pastor at a Como church.
Some residents said Como was struggling with enough of its own issues and doesn't need more people with problems brought into the neighborhood. New developments should benefit or bring jobs to the neighborhood, they said. "It's just a bad place to put it," Herman Williams said, gesturing toward the property, which was visible from the community center doors. "We need something that doesn't add to our problems
