Hi. I'm moving with my wife and newborn son (and 2 cats FWIW) to Frederick in the very near future, maybe 3-6 months max. Our apartment or townhouse options are pretty wide open, as we will be staying in an apartment only for a year or so before looking for a home.

I will be opening an office though that I will not want to relocate, and am looking for an ideal location in the Frederick area.

At first I was planning on downtown but decided against that because of the lack of parking and my observation that people might not be interested in going downtown (traffic and whatnot) to see a doctor. After visiting a few times and spending time downtown it seems like parking is limited so that having patients (some of which are injured) needing to park any distance from the office, or pay for parking, will be a problem.

I will be getting a 1000-1500 sq. ft. office space and will need 10 or so parking spots. Ideally, it will be on an undivided road, a main road but not an overly busy busy highway. I would like to be in a nice part of town, wouldn't necessarily be opposed to being in a strip mall, but I am opposed to being in a medical office park...

Maybe too many details, so I'll get to the point: I am going to be in town for a day in about a week or so to take care of some business, and will have most of the day in Frederick to scout out potential locations for my office, but I need to have a list of neighborhoods and areas to check out. Does anyone know of any good locations to drive around that might be good for a chiropractor's office? Maybe some of the better zip codes or roads that are attractive, easy-to-access, and well-known?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could check out the newer commercial area out Rt. 26 (take 15 N to exit for Libertytown/26). There's grocery store, some restaurants, nicer boutiques.

There's also an area out Rt 85 called Westgate (or Westview?) Promenade. Big movie theater and lots of other shops/restaurants. They are continuing to build on and develop. If you go behind that development, (down Crestview, I think?) there is another smaller area with a Smoothie King, coffee shop, and space for more. That's more in the mix of "office park" businesses like large Citi building.

Good luck!

Thanks, seamama, they are now on my list of places to check out. Any advice on these other streets: Grove Rd, Guilford Dr, Crestwood Blvd, Urbana Pike, New Technology, New Horizon, Madison St, Spectrum Dr, Holiday Dr...Liberty Rd, Thomas Johnson Dr, Oppossumtown Pike, Taney Ave, Rosement, Yellow Springs, Old Farm, Montevue lane...

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I know it's a big list!

Thomas Johnson Dr, Taney, and Oppossumtown: same area, roads intersect; this is where it seems ALL the doctors, specialists, dentists, etc are located in Frederick. Probably lots of good office space, and well-known to residents.

Rosemont, Yellow Springs, Old Farm, Montevue: I'd group these together, too. Going further out Yellow Springs/Old Farm you've got more residential area. But Right after Rosemont turns into Yellow Springs, there is a commercial area with shops - not sure about office-type spaces. Rosemont/Montevue is often a traffic mess and difficult to turn in/out of some businesses along there without a traffic light (Rosemont). Montevue is where the Health Department is located.

Spectrum/Holiday (and maybe some of the other streets listed): near FSK Mall. Could be convenient. Recent improvements to traffic patterns around the mall

Grove Rd and Guildford: near each other. Guilford could be a great fit; already some medical-type offices. Grove Rd could have some good space, but I think of it being more industrial-type businesses.

Urbana Pike is a fine area - big, near FSK mall

Crestwood Blvd is the street I was trying to think of this morning! (not Crestview) There is definitely growth there.

All of these areas are well-known to Frederick folks, and relatively easy to get to.

Have you opened up yet? Hope it goes well for your clinic & your family! My husband is a DC, we're looking into moving to ID, WA, or OR to open a practice...its a little scary! Would love to hear how it goes for you. Also, why do you want to stay away from a medical office park?

I have to add I would Never go to a doctor out near FSK Mall (Spectrum drive etc) the area is a MESS with Traffic.
TJ Drive is a traffic nightmare certain times of day as well but has some room to move and as stated I believe most doctors are there

I know there is some office space for rent on Key Parkway near the Right Aid (out of Rt 40 west) i know many dislike the area but i have a doctor out on Baughmans and to tell you the truth it is so easy to get in and out of there I LOVE that most times of the day i am not waiting in long lines of traffic.
Montevue lane is near the health dept and Old Farm and Yellow Springs and Rosemont all are not bad areas at all traffic is not as bad as others.
I did not see the New Design road Ballenger Creek area all are not bad either.
