The owner had the dog on a leash, they have an electric fence, put up fence and visual barriers and lived at home for 18 years with no complaints so I don't believe the problem is the dogs!!! No, I believe the person with the fleas, let's say, are the neighbors doing the complaining. The owner also has rights under the laws of this country and has not violated one. Anyway, get off you high horse and get an animal it might do you some good!!!
Sounds like I own a horse, they are animals right?

Seriously, dogs are dogs, people are people. I choose people every time. I won't apologize for not having sympathy for trespassing big dogs or their owners.

MidValleyDad - In case you haven't caught on by now, Francis is sore from having his logic absolutely dismantled. Since he couldn't effectively respond with sound reason, he resorted with the attitude you referenced.

We've owned German Shepherds for 8 years now. We bought a house on 2 acres in Frederick in 2012 and immediately put a 4ft fence up to completely enclose our back yard. Our neighbors like our dogs and they are friendly and sociable to people. But doing this gives them complete freedom to roam a large yard while also making sure the risk of them running off or doing something out of character is minimized. Even the best dogs can do unpredictable things. It's your responsibility to make sure your dogs are secured.

I also can't help noticing the writing and vocab similarities between "Francis" and the original poster. I hope we're not all getting trolled here.

Default people next door to us filed a county complaint against us

Received a letter in the mail today from the County informing my husband and I that the complaint against our Senior Boxer back in March of 2014 was DROPPED DUE LACK OF EVIDENCE and having no record of complaints from other residence within the area!!!!!! Thank you Fighter 1 for your generous support with your knowledge and recommendations.

With kids involved, the stakes are raised. That very large dog is NOT as important as those kids. The safety of human beings always come first over animals, period.

Keep your own animals on your own property 100% of the time. Problem solved.

I am so thrilled to share with you that we WON!!!!! I am so glad that you do not live next to us!!!!! You are just like the rest of these people who can't wait to start a problem. I and my dog are not the problem and never have been. My animals never leave my property without me and their leash. You and the problem person next to my land are the problem!!!!!

The people complained that our dogs are very big and that they have kids and were concerned. I assured them that my dogs do not bite but recommended to them to not have their kids running in our yard. Our one senior dog has always walked down to our mailbox and walk back up. The people next to us called the county and said we leave our dog run loose. We decided to invest in a split rail fence and Leland trees on the side that these people live to give us peace and privacy. We just received a letter from the county that we have been fined due to this person making a complaint AGAIN that our dog was on his property at 9:00 p.m.
I was out there at that time with my dog on a leash. this person came down with his trash cans that startled me and caused my dog to bark loudly and become excited. The leash is a retractable and it did not lock properly. My dog had step on the apron of his driveway barking at him. He stated that I will now have trouble and he kept saying it over and over yelling at me. I did not respond to him as I know he was looking for a argument. I got my dog and headed back to my house very upset.
My husband and I bought this land for the reason of having no people living on top of us. It does not matter how far or close a person lives next to you to cause stress in ones life.
We also have a electric fence that was put in years ago. We know have to write a letter to the county to try and appeal this fine. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

And I am glad you don't live next to us! It's very clear from your original post that your large dog was NOT under your control and did eneter his property. You're just damn too lucky that you won. Don't be foolish and face a defeat next time.

in any jurisdiction you are responsible for any pets that cause damage to any person or property. There is nothing else to say but to recommend you to build a fence, tall enough to keep your nutty dogs from the neighbors property. It doesn't matter if you have live in your property for 100 years! The neighbors spended their own capital in their property and they have the right to go out and put their garbage in whatever place they feel like without being startle by nuisance. My best suggestion is to take care of this situation ASAP before you potentially loose some(or most) of your investment. You said that you "won" a case for lack of evidence?? You should be thanking your "lucky stars" that your animals haven't attack a person or another animal. Believe you me.... you are playing Russian roulette.

I agree. If I move somewhere new I expect that no dogs will ever enter my yard unless I invite them over, or get one of my own.
