We're going to a wedding in Emittsburg and need a suggestion of a place to stay somewhere between Emmitsburg and Frederick. Somewhere in Frederick would be great. Looking for a place that's easy to get to from Rt. 15, is inexpensive ($100 or less) and in a safe part of town. Don't always trust the reviews on trip advisor so thought I'd see if people here had any suggestions.

If you can wangle an invitation... I've heard that Camp David is very nice.

All the Hotels/Motels in the Frederick area are very near US-15. I can't think of any that would not be safe. I think the cheapest would be at US-15 and US-40 (Motel-6) But there is a whole bunch of others in the area. There is a Hampton Inn & Suites a couple exits closer than that that we used for My So's Wedding a couple years ago but it is probably higher.

Just North of Frederick is an older Motel Beckleys along 15 and up in Thurmont is Cozy, an area institution for their Homestyle buffet. It also used to be used as 'Press HQ' for Camp David when this was considered way outside of Washington instead of a bedroom community. Don't forget that Gettysburg is just north of Emmitsburg and there are LOTs of hotels up there so assuming you are outside the summer vacation season there may be deals to be had.

There are others I just don't deal with the subject in this area often. The only problem might be if you are looking near graduation week at Mt St Marys College in Emmitsburg

I would not recommend the Motel 6 on Rt. 40. There have been too many drug busts there.

Check out the Hampton Inn on the north side of Frederick near 15, on Opposumpike I think. You can probably get a good rate there thru hotels.com or similar website.

There's been constant construction on Opossumtown for awhile now, so there's usually traffic and it's kind of a pain to get around that area. But it is extremely convenient to Emittsburg (two traffic lights from 15 north).

Has anyone stayed at the Cozy in Thurmont? The reviews on Trip Advisor are so negative I wonder if they're really fair. I had the impression it wasn't all that bad, but it's been many years since I was there, so maybe it's changed? Anyone been there?
