How many things do you have that require either batteries or plug in?
I have:
(Not counting fixtures and appliances supplied with apartment.)
Computer, speakers, modem, monitor.
TV (standard def), digital box and remote.
Portable land-line phone.
Clock radio.
Three lamps.
Two flashlights.
A few things I use less than once over several months, like blender, pre-paid cell phone, digital camera. A plug-in kettle for boiling water when I'm away from home. A handheld game my sister sent me for Xmas. Blood-pressure reader.
I think that's it. Am I missing out on anything importnat that I really need to have?
My electric bill is less than $20 per month, so I don't suppose I use a lot of electric gadgets. My list is a bit longer than Jtur88, but I don't have a landline phone. I have a printer for my PC, small home audio system, electric toaster and a few power tools and utility items (drill, skil saw, heat gun, portable work lights).
I don't use or own an electric (or gas) clothes dryer, but I have a folding solar clothes dryer (aka clothes rack). My apartment has a dishwasher, but it is only used for storing kitchen things. Life is pretty simple here.
I would say that there is a difference between having it and actually using it frequently.

I forgot to mention, I don't even have a printer. I e-mail my print jobs to myself, then open and print them at the library.
I don't live an apartment that supplies anything, but I think they should be included as having them. Things like refrigerators probably use more electricity than anything. Anyway, I have:
refrigerator
freezer
two lamps
range
toaster
can opener
computer
printer
television
radio
microwave
telephone cordless
clothers washer
clothes dryer
If you have a computer, don't you also have a monitor, speakers and other accessories that are required to be plugged in?
