I don't not worth modifying how I drive just to save a few cents.

I track it and it's not hard to do. I just reset my meter every time I fill up. If it looks out of the ordinary, I know if I need to take action.

I do. It's no trouble to push the button when I fill up. I guess it's not just a guy thing. I just like knowing. I drive too much and 55mpg makes me feel better about it.

In the summer I ride my motorcycle 99% of the time. I do it b/c I enjoy it more than for money saving. Heck I do so much crusiing around with no purpose I probably wind up burnign more gas/money than I save by riding a bike but I more than double my gas mileage of my car and I have a pretty fuel efficent car 4cyl accord.

Yes, I have tracked fuel mileage and maintenance expenses in every vehicle that I've owned--since 1971. Those detailed logs have saved me lots of money more than once when I got into a dispute over warranty stuff--I had concrete proof that I was maintaining the vehicle properly.

I've always tracked my mileage, so it's not just a guy thing. My latest car computes it automatically, which I love.

I like to do it and do it pretty regularly. My current car does automatically, but I still check it. I never top off the gas and use that measure against the miles driven.

I know this quite an old thread, but just yesterday I signed up on the Fuelly website to where I can keep track of my MPG for my '87 wagon. Since having replaced the fuel tank and all related components, I am eager to see if there are any improvements in the MPG. So far since the first fillup with the new tank at 16.9 gallons (which is surprising since I never got that much ever on the old tank, even when I had ran clean out it maxed at 15.8) I have 186 miles so far and needle is just about at the 3/4 mark.

However since the tank filled at 16.9 I subtract one for reserve purposes so I would consider 16 gallons as usable.

This will be interesting to see how I will do when I drive to Houston in two months for Thanksgiving....highest I have gotten with the old tank was 28mpg, so we'll see.

I track mine only on a yearly basis. Every Jan 1st I write down the mileage. At the end of the year I add up all the expenses for that year and the total miles driven. Then I calculate my cost per mile. I sorta keep that number in my head for the next year, realizing that it will probably cost me around $3.55 to drive to walmart for what ever. I does slow me down doing those short trips for only one or two things.

I don't track it per se... but I keep an eye on it to make sure that everything is okay. I have hybrids so it's sort of a game to see how high mpgs I can get.
