I'm also a big believer in scrimping some money aside to treat yourself to something, even if it's something small every month or so. Preferably, a lunch with friends, or a museum trip, etc. It doesn't have to be excessively pricey. Even a book or DVD, but I always preferred to go out somewhere. Just a thing to get me out of my normal routine.

I am so effing broke at the moment, mainly my own doing, it's temporary but there are tricks.

One is - always buy yourself a treat. It doesn't have to be expensive, but you're going to feel soooo much better about your life if you have something nice to wash your hair in or paint on your nails.

I also never skimp on laundry powder or toilet paper or soap...the trick is to never pay full price for anything...watch out for the sales, buy in bulk but be careful to make sure it's actually cheaper to do so.
