As recently as a year ago, the 24 oz. attractively-priced store brand mustard containers featured wide mouths into which you could insert a knife or even a spoon to get every last bit of product. Then they went to plastic containers that you squeeze but into which you can't fit even a narrow knife blade. Lots of waste.
Oh sure, you can buy small expensive jars of French's whose flavoring I don't like anyway and Grey Poupon or Dijon for special occasions, but I like the regular mustard for everyday use.
Closest I can come to a solution is when no more mustard can be squeezed out but there's still a fair amt. of product along the bottom and sides of the container, I add apple cider vinegar and use the concoction as a salad dressing.
I guess this isn't limited to mustard but almost any squeezable product with a narrow neck. With chocolate syrup, I guess a solution is to add milk to the container and then have a chocolate drink.

I have said that same thing at least a dozen times as I tried to get the last two ounces of mustard out of the stupid bottle grrr..
Have you tried storing it upside down in the refrigerator?
