Do you say anything if guests come to your home and waste food, such as taking a large slab of meat, and throwing most of it out or anything else? Or like opening up a lot of beer cans, taking one sip out of each and leaving the rest. Would you consider not inviting that person back if they did it repeatedly? I had someone do this recently and I don't want this person back at my house and when they left, I didn't extend an invitation for them to come back sometime.

We don't drink so the beer wouldn't be as issue at our house. Just understand that the person is low class and move on. No need to fret over it.

I wouldn't ask them back either, they hardly seem like potential bosom buddies for a frugal person. And I don't think you need to prove this to yourself several times either.

I will say that at my house, there is no such thing as food waste. What I don't eat, the compost heap will.

can't see this being acceptable unless the house isn't very sanitary and they were concerned about germs

That's what I'm doing. Moving on. The person won't be invited back, period.

So was this one person who both opened a lot of beer cans and took a sip, and took a large slab of meat and ate only a small amount?

That's just weird. I really especially DON'T understand doing that with beer.

With meat, I might give him a pass pending further information. Sometimes when you start eating something your stomach really starts to hurt, or some people have a condition where their throat can clench up - and this happens especially with pieces of solid meat.

Or, if it was ONE can of beer and the guy either really didn't care for the beer, or decided after a couple sips that he really shouldn't be doing that - was driving later, was on a carb free diet, lent, whatever.

If it was the same guy who opened several beers, and took only a few bites of a large serving of meat, forget it.

I think it is very rude for people to do this, but no, I don't say anything to them, and that alone would not be a reason for me not to invite them over again.

I agree as laid out it’s rather weird or overly exaggerated

I've actually known someone with that condition that you describe, and he would never have taken the largest slab of meat on the platter. He took very small portions at a time.

But no, this person who did that doesn't have a medical condition like that.
